Qualiquant was contracted to conduct a baseline evaluation on three key value chains (Rice, Tomato, and Poultry) in 4 locations in Nigeria, namely: Benue, Edo, Nasarawa and Ogun State. The overarching objective of this assessment is to determine a point of reference from which future measurements and perceptions of the Naija Unlock project outputs and outcome indicators can be calculated. The target population for this study were the Households (male and female smallholder farmers) and Value chain actors/contributors such as farmers cooperatives, SMEs, service providers, input suppliers.
The study adopted both Quantitative and Qualitative approaches. A sample size of 2302 respondents, who are smallholder farmers in the 3 value chains ( Rice, Tomato and Poultry) were interviewed during the quantitative survey. A total of 48 in-depth interviews (IDIs) were conducted with key stakeholders across the value chain across the four states (12 IDI per state) and 24 Focus groups discussion (FGDs) among male and female farmers across the value chain in the study locations .
